Background:
CADEPIA was founded in 1985 to generate growth in Cochabamba's business sector. It focuses on providing consultancy and credit to micro, small and medium-sized businesses. It is an entirely self-financed organization that works alongside the city council and other local partners.
Objectives:
CADEPIA’s primary objective is to give comprehensive and holistic assistance and support to micro, small and medium-sized businesses.
Who Does CADEPIA Help?
CADEPIA aims to support small businesses in and around the city of Cochabamba. It has over 400 affiliated members. Services it provides include loans of up to $4000; training programs in business, marketing and commercialization; and business consultancy.
Working Conditions:
CADEPIA is located in the center of Cochabamba, about 15 minutes from Sustainable Bolivia's offices. It has a team of seven permanent members of staff: a credit manager, two consultants in business management, one environmental consultant, one training manager, 1 secretary and a general manager.
Programs:
At present CADEPIA is looking to develop a more successful micro-credit system, and also to provide more training in commercialization to better equip its members.
Volunteer/Intern requirements:
- Advanced Spanish
- Relevant degree and experience in business administration, finance, economics, trade and commerce, or other related field
- Knowledge of micro-finance organizations
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team
- Minimum commitment period of three months
