Sustainable Bolivia (SB) hosts movie nights frequently making use of our outdoor cinema, where volunteers and locals enjoy a variety of films under the stars, eating popcorn and drinking tea. We screen a range of Bolivian and Latin American films, plus documentaries and blockbusters in Spanish with English subtitles, or vice versa. It is a fun and interactive way for the volunteers to learn about the socio cultural environment they are living in, plus practice their language skills. Popular films shown by SB are Even the Rain, Cocalero, Who Killed the White Llama?, Neruda, Our Brand Is Crisis, The Motorcycle Diaries, The Devil’s Miner and American Visa. We have had the pleasure of hosting a Q & A with Ismael Saavedra, the director of the documentary Auto Decolonization who lives in Cochabamba after screenings of his films for volunteer groups.
Volunteers are welcome to suggest films to be screened, or to host their own movie nights additional to those SB coordinates.
